Cancer Free Kids, Inc. is a local non-profit organization established in 2010 to benefit area children undergoing chemotherapy treatments at local pediatric oncology clinics in Springfield, Massachusetts and the surrounding area. Our goal is to assist in the creation of a comfortable, stimulating, educational and social environment for these children while they are having their chemotherapy treatments.
Treatment of childhood cancer results in significant side effects and social limitations as a result of a compromised immune system. Kids lose time with friends, miss school and, because of infection risk, they are limited as to what they can bring into a clinic. We want to give them back some of that lost time by helping create options for them to play, learn and socialize with each other by providing computers, an aquarium, e-books, video games, etc that they can use during their visits to the clinics.
